JOSHUA E. BROWN

I’m a science writer and photographer who tells stories animated by this question: how does the world work?

My work has been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, BBC, and many other places—including 17 cover stories for the University of Vermont Magazine.

Mostly I write about biology and conservation.

But, now that you’re asking, I agree, that’s another good question: what is life, anyway?

By day, I have the rare good fortune of serving as a staff science writer for UVM Communications. By night, I like to stick my thumb in the freelancer’s pie.

As a side-hustle (and joy) I teach writing courses to the graduate students in UVM’s Field Naturalist Program.

If you’d like to talk about collaborations or assignments, please be in touch.
